Whatnot fees in 2026 explained: commission tiers and processing
Whatnot's seller fees have two parts. The commission, since 2026-09-21, depends on your tier (your total sales in a 28-day period) and the category: in the US it runs from 8% at the Standard tier down to 3.5% for coins at Tier 6, on the item price only. Payment processing is 2.9% + $0.30 on everything the buyer pays. The tables below are the published rate cards and the fee on typical prices.

Commission: tier x category
Your tier comes from your total completed sales, all categories, live and marketplace, in a 28-day period; it sets the rate for the next period, and every period starts from zero. Within a tier each sale pays its category's rate: the show's category for live sales, the product's for marketplace sales. The Premier Shop discount (10% off the rate) applies on top through 2026-10-31 and ends on 1 November.

Payment processing and tax on fees
Processing is separate from the commission and does not fall with your tier: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction in the US, 2.42% + £0.25 plus VAT in the UK, on the total the buyer pays (item, shipping and tax). In a few US states the platform adds sales tax on its commission or on processing; UK sellers who are not VAT registered pay VAT on both. The fee calculator has a field for each.

The fixed $0.30 is why cheap items lose a bigger share: on a $5.00 sale the fees are 16.8% of the price, on $250.00 they are 11%.

- What are Whatnot's seller fees in 2026?
- Commission by tier and category (US Standard tier: 8% for most categories, 4% for coins) plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing on the buyer's total. In the UK: 6.67% at the Standard tier plus 2.42% + £0.25, subject to VAT.
- Does Whatnot take a cut of shipping?
- Not in the commission: it is calculated on the item price only. Shipping and the buyer's sales tax are in the processing base, so a $10.00 item with $4.99 shipping and $0.85 tax pays $0.80 commission and $0.76 processing.
- When did Whatnot's commission tiers start?
- On 2026-09-21 for existing sellers, and the week of 28 September 2026 for sellers who gained selling access after 21 September. Existing sellers opened on the tier their sales from 24 August to 20 September earned.
- Is there a fee on expensive items?
- In eligible categories (singles, TCG, comics, toys, coins, bags, jewelry) the part of one order above $1,500.00 pays 0% commission while that limited-time promotion runs: a $2,000.00 card pays $120.00 commission, plus processing on the full amount.
